Your Idea Is Not A Business

Not A Business

I am really sorry to have to tell you this.  I know you won’t believe me. But give it a few minutes and think about it, and then I am sure you will agree.

Your idea is not a business. It does not need protection. It is not unique. Right now, in this world of billions, there could be a million people with the same idea.

Your idea, any idea,  is just electrical impulses inside your head. It doesn’t do anything. It doesn’t contribute. It doesn’t need protecting. It won’t inspire people. It won’t make you rich.

You can think about your idea all day long. All week, maybe even for years.   It doesn’t matter how long you think about your idea.

It is nothing.

If you come to me and say “Help me make my idea a business, but first sign this NDA (non disclosure agreement)”, I will say I am sorry I can’t help you. You are probably not the first person with this idea.  I may have thought of this idea on my own.

I can’t help you because you are afraid I will steal your idea. You do not understand that your idea sucks.  It does not contribute. It is nothing and  it sucks until you make it something.

Idea’s are not rare.  Do you want a business idea? Stop anyone on the street. Ask them for a business idea. I bet they could come up with at least 10 in a minute.  Go to a business networking group, and you could get 100.  If people will share with you.

If you have an  idea, and you want to transform your idea into a business, into a lifestyle, into a movement, then you need to share your idea.   You need to act on your idea. You need to work hard to make your idea become something.

Yes, someone will steal your idea.  Or maybe they came up with it on their own.  So What?

But is not the better idea that wins. It is the better execution that wins. It is the person that works harder, markets better.  It is the person that shares an idea, and engages a tribe that is excited about their idea.  Excited to develop the idea, excited to pay money for the idea, excited to contribute to your business and your success.

It is very hard to share your idea with the world, and keep it a secret.

What’s your idea?
